BREITKREUZ ASKS VOTERS TO TAKE HIS "GUN CONTROL TEST" AND THEN DECIDE

"Gun control legislation violates fundamental principles which most Canadians would oppose."

Ottawa - Monday in the House of Commons, Garry Breitkreuz, MP for Yorkton-Melville spoke out against the Liberal gun control bill. Breitkreuz said, "I encourage every voter to inform themselves and to judge this legislation against their own personal beliefs not what the government, the media or politicians are telling you. This is one nasty piece of legislation and it will affect not only your lives but also the lives of your children and your grandchildren. The Minister of Justice is right. This legislation is about the kind of country we want to live in. You owe it to yourselves and the next generations to get it right. Your safety and the safety of your family, your friends, your home and all privately owned property is at stake."

Breitkreuz asked every voter to test their fundamental principles and personal beliefs when making their decision to support or not support the Liberal gun control legislation:

(1)Do you believe in smaller government, reduced government spending, less bureaucracy, and lower taxes?

(2)Do you believe in personal freedom, personal responsibility and the right to own and enjoy private property?

(3)Do you believe in true equality and that the law should be applied equally regardless of your race, your occupation or where you live?

(4)Do you believe that Members of Parliament should be able to vote freely to better reflect the wishes of the majority of their constituents?

(5)Do you believe the federal government should not interfere in areas of provincial jurisdiction?

(6)Do you believe the best way to improve public safety is to severely punish violent criminals?

(7)Do you believe that the police should use the most cost-effective methods for fighting violent crime?

(8)Do you believe every citizen has a right to be protected from unreasonable search and seizure by police?

(9)Do you believe in every citizen's constitutional right to "life, liberty and security of the person"?

(10)Do you believe it is everyone's right and responsibility to defend themselves, their family, their home and their property as defined in the Criminal Code of Canada?

"If you are currently a supporter of more gun control or have not yet made up your mind, and if you answered "yes" to any one of these questions, then you should seriously consider the immediate and long term implications of the Liberal gun control bill," challenged Breitkreuz.
