NEW BRUNSWICK LIBERALS WEAK-KNEED FOR NOT OPPOSING GUN CONTROL
"The Premier of New Brunswick is obviously backing his Liberal bosses in Ottawa on Bill C-68."
Ottawa - Garry Breitkreuz, MP for Yorkton-Melville, just finished a whirlwind tour of New Brunswick and concluded that the rights of law-abiding citizens and responsible firearm owners are defended far better in Saskatchewan than in New Brunswick. Breitkreuz toured the province because he is Reform's critic for Unemployment Insurance and employment and training programs, but most of the people he met wanted to talk about Justice Minister Allan Rock's flawed gun control bill now being reviewed by the House of Commons Standing Committee on Justice.
"People who are opposed to the costly, intrusive, ineffective measures proposed by the Liberals in Bill C-68 feel unrepresented in Ottawa. Their Liberal MPs are all playing follow-the-leader and New Brunswick Premier Frank McKenna is silent on the issue. No wonder the people are so happy to see a Reform MP," explained Breitkreuz.
"Why are Premiers in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba appearing before the Standing Committee and the New Brunswick Premier is not? Are the rights of New Brunswick citizens not being trampled on the same as they are in Saskatchewan? Are areas of provincial jurisdiction not being interfered with the same as they are in the prairie provinces?" asked Breitkreuz.
"If the law-abiding citizens of New Brunswick feel they are unrepresented in Parliament by their Liberal MPs or their Premier, then I invite all voters in New Brunswick to treat me as their unofficial representative in Ottawa. I will do my best to make sure you are fully informed on Bill C-68," promised Breitkreuz.
