BREITKREUZ RENOMINATED AS CANADIAN
ALLIANCE CANDIDATE
Garry Breitkreuz, Member of
Parliament, was renominated as the Yorkton-Melville Canadian Alliance candidate.
The nomination meeting was held at the Legion Hall in Yorkton on Friday evening,
May 30th.
Although Breitkreuz was the
only nominee, the Canadian Alliance constitution requires that the membership
decide whether or not they wish to have him be their candidate at the time of
the next election. The vote took
place after a notice was published in the local newspapers soliciting
nominations from anyone wishing to challenge the incumbent as required by the
Canadian Alliance constitution.
The M.P. addressed the
membership outlining some of the issues before Parliament.
He also described the work he has been doing in Ottawa, across the
country and in the riding for the past four years.
A question and answer session followed his speech with topics including
agriculture, Canada-U.S. relations, the political ramifications of the Tory
leadership race and the lack of democracy in Ottawa.
Breitkreuz concluded the
evening by thanking the membership for their 100% vote of confidence and
reaffirmed his commitment to servicing the constituents of Yorkton-Melville to
the best of his ability.
