PETITION TO THE HOUSE OF COMMONS OF CANADA
IN PARLIAMENT ASSEMBLED
WE, THE UNDERSIGNED CITIZENS OF CANADA,
draw the attention of the House to the following:THAT
Canada ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child even though it was not voted on in Parliament and not all provinces officially endorsed the ratification;THAT
if the Convention is fully ratified and implemented in Canada, bureaucrats and the Courts will be legally entitled to determine what is "in the best interest of the child"--not parents;THAT
by ratifying the Convention, Canada has created a bureaucracy in order to police parents and enforce the guidelines of the Convention;THAT
by ratifying the Convention, Canada is considering changes to our laws respecting the rights of parents to discipline their children;THAT
if the Convention is fully implemented, there will be greater incentives for families to abdicate their parental responsibilities to the State;THEREFORE
, your petitioners request Parliament support a Motion introduced by the Member of Parliament for Yorkton-Melville which states: "That, in the opinion of this House, the government should authorize a proclamation to be issued by the Governor General under the Great Seal of Canada amending Section 7 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to: (a) recognize the fundamental right of individuals to pursue family life free from undue interference by the state, and (b) recognize the fundamental right, responsibility and liberty of parents to direct the upbringing of their children, and urge the legislative assemblies of the provinces to do likewise."Signatures (Sign your name.
