Cheers and Jeers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jeers: to a troubled system. Jim Pinheiro, the man who shot Martina Seymour, was somehow able to obtain weapons, even though he was under a five-year ban from possessing guns following an earlier bout of relationship violence that involved weapons. In an earlier relationship, Pinheiro was convicted for taking the parents of his ex-wife hostage, and later shot himself in the stomach in a failed suicide attempt. Sure, the federal gun registry is unwieldy and massively expensive, but there has to be some way to keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of people who clearly shouldn't have them. You also have to wonder - how many warning signs does the system have to have before someone takes action?
