The Canada Firearms Centre’s (CFC) Quick
Facts about the Canadian Firearms Program (updated on the CFC website on August
26, 2004) stated: “Since December 1998,
834,709 firearms that have been exported, destroyed or deactivated have been
removed from the system. This ensures data quality and completeness within
the database.” (1) Please provide copies of reports for each year showing how
many firearms in each category had been: (a) exported, (b) destroyed, and (c)
deactivated. (2) Please provide copies of reports showing the current “data
quality and completeness” in the database.

#1: THE CFC'S "QUICK FACTS ABOUT THE FIREARMS PROGRAM MADE NO MENTION OF
THE FACT THAT "EXPIRED" FIREARMS COMPRISED 22.9% (190,892) OF THE
TOTAL.
NOTE #2: THE CFC
FAILED TO PROVIDE ANY REPORTS SHOWING THE CURRENT "DATA QUALITY AND
COMPLETENESS" OF THE DATA BASE.
NOVEMBER 5, 2004 - CFC REFUSED TO
PROVIDE LIST OF "ADMINISTRATIVE REASONS" FOR "EXPIRED"
FIREARMS. THE CFC OFFICIAL ADVISED THEY HAD A LIST OF REASONS BUT THAT WE
WOULD HAVE TO FILE ANOTHER ACCESS REQUEST BEFORE THEY WOULD RELEASE THEM.

ACCESS REQUEST TO GET REASONS FOR "EXPIRED" FIREARMS
Reference is being made to the Centre’s
response to CFC File A-2004-0029/jr that shows 190,892 registered firearms
“removed from the system” under the heading of “Expired: For various
administrative reasons.” Please provide the list of various
administrative reasons and the number and type of firearms removed from the
registration system for each reason.
