Marc Serré, first elected in 2015, is a 10-year backbench Liberal MP who represented Nickel Belt until election boundary redistribution. He’s now running to keep his job in the new riding of Sudbury East–Manitoulin–Nickel Belt.
Serré, at an Open House at his campaign headquarters, answered a question about why the Liberal government keeps banning more hunting rifles with each new round of additions to its May 2020 Order in Council gun ban.
“Actually, give me that hunting rifle model number, and I’ll make sure that it’s not on the list, and if it is, I’ll get it off.”[i]
We can only imagine the howls of laughter he received with that response.
It’s an audacious claim for a Liberal backbench MP, when he can’t even speak to his party leader, let alone force changes to longstanding Liberal Party policy.
Mr. Serré, if you’re so powerful, why didn’t you stop hunting rifles from being added to the May 2020 Order in Council Ban List?
Tell voters the truth.
You are a backbench Liberal MP.
You have NO POWER to effect change on anything, especially Liberal policy on firearms.
CSSA has a ton of members in your new riding, and we encourage every one of them to call your office and ask you that question.
“If you had the power to stop hunting rifles from being added to the ban list, WHY DIDN’T YOU DO IT?”
The Solution
To all the voters in Sudbury East–Manitoulin–Nickel Belt, if hunting and firearms are important to you, vote for Conservative candidate Jim Bélanger.
Mr. Bélanger and a Conservative federal government will defend your culture, your heritage and your hunting rifles.
All Mr. Serré can do is spout lies about his power and influence and pray you buy into his nonsense.
To vote for Conservative Jim Bélanger, visit your local polling station today and vote by Special Ballot. Find out more information here: https://www.elections.ca/Scripts/vis/EDInfo?L=e&ED=35104&EV=62&EV_TYPE=1&PROV=ON&PROVID=35&QID=-1&PAGEID=21
