The Canadian Shooting Sports Association is very pleased to learn that effective Tuesday, May 19, 2020, gun clubs in Ontario will be able to re-open their doors for business. The announcement was made today by Ontario Premier Doug Ford at his daily news conference.
With Ontario’s COVID-19 health indicators continuing to improve, individual recreational sports – including both indoor and outdoor gun clubs – have been included as part of the first stage in the government’s reopening framework. In this cautious approach to reopening the province, workplace safety for both staff and the general public will be a priority.
“We want to thank Premier Ford for his wise and measured leadership as Ontario continues to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic,” stated CSSA Executive Director Tony Bernardo.
“Our Ontario members are keen to head back to the range for some long overdue sport shooting and competition events, and I know they will take every precaution to ensure that all public health guidelines are respected so that the province can continue its efforts to carefully reopen.”
