SPECIAL REPORT: RCMP EXPIRY OF FIREARMS REGISTRATION CERTIFICATES

February 14, 2025

CSSA Members,

The Liberal government’s latest attack on law-abiding firearm owners has begun. Many of you have received letters from the RCMP declaring your firearm registration certificates “automatically expired.”

THE FACTS:
Through yet another Order in Council on December 5, 2024, the federal government arbitrarily prohibited 324 additional makes and models of firearms. This politically motivated decree has resulted in the RCMP’s unilateral expiry of thousands of valid registration certificates. It’s worth noting that in the first OIC firearms prohibition, the RCMP sent similar letters using the term “nullification” – they have now changed their terminology to “expired.”

WHAT THIS MEANS RIGHT NOW:
The government has implemented an Amnesty Order until October 30, 2025. During this period, affected firearm owners are LIMITED to:
• Keeping the firearm securely stored at your residence
• Transporting ONLY if legally required
• Transferring to authorized businesses
• Exporting (with proper permits)

CRITICAL WARNING: Despite the RCMP’s expiry notice, you are temporarily protected under the amnesty. However, any use outside these strict parameters could result in criminal charges.

PROTECT YOURSELF – TAKE THESE STEPS NOW:

  1. DOCUMENT EVERYTHING – Photograph your firearms and maintain ALL paperwork
  2. SECURE STORAGE – Ensure full compliance with storage regulations
  3. NO MOVEMENT – Do not transport or transfer without legal consultation
  4. STAY CONNECTED – Contact CSSA immediately with specific questions

Make no mistake – this is not about public safety. This is about a government targeting law-abiding citizens while ignoring actual criminals.

The coming “compensation program” is nothing more than forced confiscation with a cheque attached. We are fighting this on all fronts.

REMEMBER: You are part of a community of thousands of responsible firearms owners facing the same attack as you. The CSSA stands ready to defend our members through every legal channel available.

For immediate assistance regarding your situation, contact the CSSA office.

Stand Strong,
Canadian Shooting Sports Association

IMPORTANT: Retain this bulletin for your records. Document everything. The information contained here may be crucial for future legal proceedings.

I don’t and will never believe a gun free society is the solution. Most law abiding firearms owners underwent safety certification, background checks and are practicing safe operation. What i, as a legal gun owner wants, is a government that will support legal firearms ownership and the right to exercise freedoms underlined in the charter of rights. Hiw many more actual innocent lives will be put at risk removing legal firearms from legal firearms owners? Time to take a stand and defend our rights to freedom of life, liberty and ownership.
