Mark Carney Confirms Trudeau’s Gun Confiscations Will Continue

In the French-language Liberal leadership debate held on DATE, Mark Carney confirmed that if he becomes Liberal leader and Canada’s unelected Prime Minister, he will push Trudeau’s Firearms Confiscation Compensation Scheme even harder.

We have to have a buyback program for firearms.”[i]

He then revealed his ignorance of Canadian firearms law and the Liberal Party’s longstanding lie about the AR-15.

“Mr. Poilievre was against that [Trudeau’s Firearms Confiscation Compensation Scheme]. He’s quite happy to see AR-15s on our streets here in Canada.”

The AR-15 was classified as a Restricted Firearm in 1979, making it impossible for anyone to legally own or acquire one without a firearms license.

It pains us that we must point out the fact that the only AR-15s that are “on the street” – to use Mark Carney’s deliberately misleading language – are illegal guns in the hands of criminals.

The illegal rifles used by Nova Scotia’s mass murderer – the rationale for confiscating legally-owned semi-automatic rifles from licensed owners – was smuggled into Canada from the United States prior to his murderous rampage.

Fear-mongering is a time-honored tool in the Liberal Party toolbox, as proven by the lies used to push through Trudeau’s gun ban by Order in Council which ordered the confiscation of over 1,500 makes and models of firearms legally owned by Canadians.

Violent Crime with Illegal Guns Increased Under Trudeau Liberals

Carney got one thing correct during the French language debate.

“We have to secure the border. That’s the federal government’s responsibility to do that. We have to work with the Americans on this because most [illegal] firearms come here from the U.S.”[ii]

Securing the border is not a priority for Justin Trudeau’s government. It won’t be a priority for the next Liberal leader either, no matter who wins.

Crystia Freeland is a longtime champion of the Liberal government’s commitment to “never water down” their measures on gun control². The Liberal government has never followed the “evidence-based” model touted by Justin Trudeau when he was first elected.

The Liberal Party’s failed policy on firearms is responsible for the increase in violent crime (up by almost 30 percent) since Trudeau was elected in 2015.[iii]

The establishment media and Justin Trudeau’s back-room cabal hate Chrystia Freeland. They will do anything to make sure Mark Carney becomes the next Liberal leader.

That shouldn’t shock you, it should terrify you.

Mark Carney is one of Trudeau’s most trusted advisors.

Carney will, as he said in the French language debate but refused to repeat in English, continue to implement Trudeau’s Firearms Confiscation Compensation Scheme.

The Path Forward

Some members may object to CSSA’s position on the Liberal Party.

We remind those members, and everyone else reading this commentary, of one undeniable and irrefutable truth.

Every Liberal Prime Minister in the last six decades has passed measures that restrict our ability to own and use firearms.

Given that long track record of attacks on our community, our culture and our heritage, any belief that the next Liberal party leader will treat us differently is unrealistic.

No matter when the next federal election is called, Canada’s firearms community has only one choice:

Vote Conservative.

A vote for any other party supports the Liberal agenda, including Justin Trudeau’s costly Firearms Confiscation Compensation Scheme, because the Conservative Party is the only federal party with a hope of replacing them and forming government.
