Dear Fellow CSSA Members,
I’m writing to you today not just as your president, but as someone who shares your deep concern for the future of our sporting heritage in Canada. The stakes have never been higher for our community.
With the recent announcement of Nathalie Provost’s candidacy for the Liberal Party, we face a critical turning point. As someone who has consistently advocated for increasingly restrictive firearms policies, her potential presence in Parliament signals an unprecedented threat to legal firearms ownership in Canada. The writing is on the wall: a total firearms ban is no longer a distant possibility – it’s becoming their end game.
But here’s what gives me hope: You. All of you. Our community is 2.4 million strong. We are your neighbours, co-workers, friends, and family members. We are law-abiding citizens who responsibly practice our sport, maintain our heritage, and contribute positively to our communities. And most importantly, we vote.
The upcoming election isn’t just another trip to the ballot box – it’s our moment to stand united. We can no longer afford to sit on the sidelines and hope for the best. Every single vote matters, and we need all hands on deck.
Here’s what I’m asking of each of you:
Speak up. Share your experiences as a responsible firearms owner with friends and family. Help them understand that legal firearms owners are among the most vetted and responsible citizens in Canada. Explain how our community contributes to wildlife conservation, supports local economies, and maintains Canadian traditions.
Get involved. Organize carpools to ensure every firearms owner can reach their polling station. Check-in with fellow club members to make sure they’re registered to vote. Volunteer at your local range to help spread awareness.
Stay informed. Follow the CSSA’s updates, attend local meetings, and understand where candidates stand on firearms policies. Knowledge is power, and we need to be well-informed when discussing these issues with others.
Remember, we’re not just fighting for our sports and hobbies – we’re fighting for our rights as law-abiding Canadians to maintain a legitimate, regulated, and responsible activity that has been part of Canadian culture since before the Confederation.
The next four years could fundamentally reshape firearms ownership in Canada. But together, we have the numbers and the strength to make our voices heard. Let’s show up at the polls in numbers too big to ignore.
United we stand, divided we fall. Let’s make this election count.

Put a hold on the gun buy-back program- waste of good money. Dissolve the restrictive- prohib on handguns in favor of one classification. It will save a lot of time and money.
