Australia’s “Gun Control” Mirage

Always blame the gun, never the criminal wielding it.

On December 14, 2025, Sajid Akram and his son Naveed Akram led an ISIS-inspired terror attack at a Hanukkah gathering at Bondi Beach, Sydney.[i]

The firearms used by the terrorists were not smuggled in from the underworld.

They were legally held under Australia’s firearms licensing scheme, a system that is celebrated worldwide for its “strict gun control.”[ii]

The Bondi Beach terror attack didn’t prove Australia needs more firearms restrictions.

This attack proved that Australia’s celebrated “gun control” scheme allowed two motivated terrorists to pass a background check and firearms license compliance test.

That’s not a “gun control” problem.

That’s a systemic human problem, complete with government-issued paperwork.

That systemic failure cost 15 people their lives. Dozens more were wounded.

Police also found improvised explosive devices.[iii]

One terrorist was killed at the scene. The other was taken into custody and charged.

The Lie Our Government is Selling Canadians

If we ban the gun and control legal access, we can control criminals misusing illegal guns.
Truth: Laws restrain law-abiding people. They don’t stop those with evil intent.

The Akrams didn’t wake up violent that terrible day because of a gun.

They woke up violent that day because of their embrace of violent ideology, hatred, and evil intent

The systems that were supposed to detect the threat the Akrams posed failed completely.[iv]

That’s why Australia is now arguing about inquiries and intelligence performance, not just calibres and magazines.

When the problem is terror, no licensing scheme or gun registry can protect us.

This is why Canada’s approach, like Australia’s, is doomed to fail.

The Uncomfortable Truth Nobody Wants to Hear

Gun bans mostly succeed at one thing: Disciplining those who are already obedient.

The criminal doesn’t submit to a federal form.

The radical doesn’t repent because Parliament updated a storage regulation.

And when leaders refuse to name the real enemy—radicalization, recruitment networks, incitement, intelligence failures—they reach for the easiest scapegoat.

Steel. Polymer. Springs. Pins.

And the people who follow all the rules to own them.

  • A gun can’t hate Jews.
  • A firearm can’t pledge allegiance to ISIS.
  • A gun can’t choose murder.

Only a person can do that.

As one licensed firearm owner said decades ago, “My handgun is loaded and sitting on my desk. It’s been there all day. Not once has it tried to jump up and kill me.”

Humans with evil intent are the problem, not the tools they use to carry out their heinous acts.

Which is why lazy and agenda-driven politicians go after licensed users. It’s so much easier than dealing with the real problem.

What Members of Parliament Must Stop

Stop the “public safety performance theatre.”

Stop treating licensed owners like suspects to avoid confronting extremists and their evil agendas.

Do the hard work.

  • Take radicalization seriously before it becomes bodies on sand.[v]
  • Build accountability for intelligence and inter-agency breakdowns.
  • Treat terror ideology like the threat it is, without the platitudes and euphemisms.

Because the next attacker will adapt or circumvent the law.

Evil always does.

To Canada’s licensed owners

Do not be shamed for obeying the law.

Do not be gaslit into carrying the blame for a terrorist’s hatred.

Tell the truth—even when nobody wants to hear it.

Write today. To your local newspapers, to your political representatives, to anyone who stands in the way of lawful firearms ownership.

Speak up today. To your local talk shows, to your local, provincial and federal representatives, and to anyone who is ignorant of what is required to legally own a firearm in Canada today.

Silence is no longer optional.

Your silence is compliance with those who would destroy our heritage, our culture of safety and personal responsibility, and our ability to own the property that enriches our lives.

Socialist governments depend exclusively on the media to advance their agendas of complete control over the citizens. This is very clear in the recent reporting of ICE interdicting illegal aliens in the US – the entire media apparatus exists to support socialist/leftist governments/administrations. Similarly, Canadian media vilifies Conservative governments with claims of “more assault firearms on the streets”, while they celebrate gun confiscations by the Liberal governments (and their collaborators, the NDP and the Bloc) that have absolutely zero public safety value. Media focus is, for some reason, on uplifting socialist policies by spinning incidents into BOM/MAGA/MCGA rhetoric, without considering any/all of the facts of the incidents. And the majority of the population (your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers) believe what they see on TV and read in the paper. There is a very serious lack of critical thought in most of the population – and these people are allowed to vote! Let that sink in, and you no longer need to wonder why this country is in the shape that it is in.
