There are many things that signify the changing of seasons. For our community, events can be a measure of the passing year. The Toronto Sportsmen’s Show, the massive Calgary Gun Show and many other events are of significant importance to our community.
With the rising of Parliament for the summer break and the accompanying relief that it brings for a few short months – knowing that our property is safe – there is another event that has become a harbinger of summer: Wolverine Days.
Wolverine Supplies’ owners, John and Pat Hipwell, began this event as a showcase for the Wolverine Supplies’ product line. As Wolverine has grown to become a firearms business of significant proportion in Canada, so too has “Wolverine Days” grown proportionally.
This year, despite uncertain weather and unseasonably cold temperatures, over 850 people descended on the range to try shooting everything from .22’s to the BIG .50 BMG. Wolverine’s capable staff worked through it like champs, aided by great factory representatives sent by several major firearms and accessories companies.
Attendees of the event had an opportunity to meet noted Member of Parliament for Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa, Bob Sopuck, and his lovely wife, Caroline.
Sopuck commented: “John and Pat Hipwell, and indeed, all of the staff and associates at Wolverine Supplies, put on a marvelous and very safe shooting event at their fabulous facility.” Mr. Sopuck added, “I was impressed with the wide array of firearms that guests were able to shoot and the professionalism of the instructors was superb. And the fact that there were many young people showed that the shooting sports, and hunting, are all thriving.”
Wolverine’s John Hipwell, a former CSSA director stated: “We are very proud of the success Wolverine Days has become. We are planning and looking forward to next year’s event already. I would like to thank all my wonderful staff for their hard work, all the companies that participated in Wolverine Days and, of course, my amazing partner, Pat, for all her hard work and support. Wolverine Days is truly a team effort.”
CSSA’s Executive Director, Tony Bernardo, attended the event: “It is inspiring to watch the vision and hard work of the Wolverine team as it grows into such an iconic celebration of our culture. Wolverine Days seems destined to become an ever-growing rite of summer.”
Wolverine Days is an amazing event and CSSA is proud to be part of it. Sincere thanks to Wolverine Supplies for including us.
We have no doubt that 2018 will be even bigger and better!
